This Friday 20th November at 8:30pm in the debating chamber, we will be entertaining the following motion:
This House Would Abolish Public Schools.
On the proposition there will speak Paul Green, North East Director at Teach First, Morwenna Jones, journalist who wrote for the Guardian, and a third speaker to be arranged.
On the opposition we will have Stephen Isherwood, prominent figure in graduate recruitment, Kieran McLaughlin, Headmaster at Durham School and member of HMC, and Professor Stephen Gorard, Professor of Education and Public Policy at Durham University.
The doors will open at 8:00 pm.
Debating workshops this week are as normal, with Novice debating at 6:30pm on Monday and Intermediate at 7pm on Thursday.
Ben Griffin Address
Ben Griffin, a former British SAS soldier will be addressing the Union on Monday 23rd November at 8:30pm in the debating chamber. He will speak about the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, war reporting and information management. As always, doors open at 8:00pm.
